Hardware Product Manager, Consumer Commerce

Responsibilities

• Set the vision, roadmap, and direction for OpenAI's consumer hardware ecommerce platform.
• Lead the planning, scoping, and prioritization of projects to achieve business goals.
• Define a unified commerce experience that integrates consumer hardware purchases with software subscriptions.
• Manage the end-to-end customer journey, including discovery, purchase, billing, fulfillment, and service.
• Write robust product specifications, manage the backlog, and work closely with engineering to ship high-quality software.
• Build strong partnerships with marketing, operations, customer support, finance, legal, and engineering teams.
• Utilize data and customer insights to drive growth and advocate for technical platform investments.

Requirements

• 6+ years of ecommerce product management experience.
• Strong consumer intuition and a deep understanding of ecommerce best practices.
• Proficiency in data analytics to inform product strategy and user experience improvements.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience in stakeholder management and building consensus across diverse functions.
• Ability to operate strategically while diving deep into technical details and system complexities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing commerce experiences specifically for consumer hardware products.
• Experience working with subscription-based business models.
• Experience managing integrated hardware/software offerings.
