About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a dynamic group of hardware engineers in the development of new products and support for existing lines.
- Manage career development, training, and performance evaluations for the engineering team.
- Plan and oversee product development activities to ensure business and customer objectives are met.
- Participate in bid and project activities, including defining architectures and developing technical proposals.
- Review testing protocols for compliance with standards and verify results to ensure functionality.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in NPI, Customer Support, Sales, and Marketing.
- Manage third-party relationships and coordinate work for cross-site initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science (Technologist Diploma or equivalent will be considered).
- 8 years of industry experience relating to electronics computing.
- Experience in a managerial or leadership role.
- Detailed knowledge of embedded computing systems architecture and hardware within the military/aerospace industry.
- Ability to estimate and schedule complex development projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic assemblies for aerospace applications and design for rugged environments.
- Familiarity with open system standards such as VME, VPX, XMC, and PMC.
- Experience with Intel, NXP, or Qualcomm processors (x86, PA, ARM).
- Knowledge of PCB technologies, stack-up definition, material selection, and IPC standards.
- Familiarity with DO-254 Safety Certification.
- Experience with high-end FPGA design and latest embedded technologies (PCIe, 40GbE, DDR4).
