Hardware Electrical Engineer I

Responsibilities

• Design and build prototypes using mechanical and electrical components
• Integrate equipment and set up laboratory environments for testing
• Conduct unit and system-level testing and troubleshooting
• Research electrical and mechanical components for hardware design selection
• Create electrical schematic diagrams and engineering documentation
• Design and build cable and harness assemblies
• Assemble electronic rack assemblies with various units

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related STEM field
• U.S. citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, and digital multimeters
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and electrical system schematics
• Experience with circuit design and soldering
• Familiarity with researching specifications for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) components
• Experience creating electronic schematics using Microsoft Visio
• Knowledge of communication interfaces and bus standards (e.g., SPI, I2C, PCIe, UART)
• Familiarity with antennas, radios, amplifiers, and power supplies
