Hard Trim Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design automotive component parts in CATIA V5/V6
• Develop and execute interior system requirements for trim commodities
• Collaborate with design/styling studio to balance form, function, and cost
• Implement processes and material selections for high-quality automotive craftsmanship
• Optimize designs using analytical and physical assessments
• Complete and release interior components and sub-system designs
• Utilize DFSS methodologies during design, validation, and launch
• Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into design
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering and procurement teams
• Manage technical documentation including DFMEAs and DVP&R

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred)
• Minimum 4 years of automotive exterior trim component and subsystem engineering experience
• Proficiency in 3D modeling using CATIA V5 (minimum 10,000 hours or 6 years)
• Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, GD&T, and dimensional engineering
• Experience with technical documentation (DVP&R and DFMEA) in full vehicle life cycles
• Ability to manage difficult projects with tight timing constraints
