About the role
Responsibilities
- Design automotive component parts in CATIA V5/V6
- Develop and execute interior system requirements for trim commodities
- Collaborate with design/styling studio to balance form, function, and cost
- Implement processes and material selections for high-quality automotive craftsmanship
- Optimize designs using analytical and physical assessments
- Complete and release interior components and sub-system designs
- Utilize DFSS methodologies during design, validation, and launch
- Interpret CAE simulation results and integrate recommendations into design
- Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering and procurement teams
- Manage technical documentation including DFMEAs and DVP&R
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred)
- Minimum 4 years of automotive exterior trim component and subsystem engineering experience
- Proficiency in 3D modeling using CATIA V5 (minimum 10,000 hours or 6 years)
- Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, GD&T, and dimensional engineering
- Experience with technical documentation (DVP&R and DFMEA) in full vehicle life cycles
- Ability to manage difficult projects with tight timing constraints
