Group Underwriter

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and select risk to ensure profitable acquisition and retention of policyholders within assigned authority levels
• Make appropriate risk selections based on application facts and fully document decision-making processes
• Analyze and identify early and ongoing risk trends to support business growth
• Develop professional credibility with sales forces, brokers, and internal/external customers
• Support the achievement of top-line and bottom-line growth through accurate risk assessment
• Process reinstatement applications and support policy-level applications to meet departmental goals
• Identify efficiency improvements and automation opportunities within underwriting tasks

Requirements

• 4-year college degree preferred or equivalent work experience
• Strong risk management and analytical skills
• Deep product knowledge regarding benefits and insurance features
• Strong financial acumen and ability to understand financial concepts
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to develop negotiation and influencing skills
