About the role
Responsibilities
- Confirm accuracy of data match and referral information for cash assistance cases by cross referencing internal systems
- Use databases to access information gathered from investigative areas and governmental agencies
- Assess continuous eligibility for active cash assistance cases by computing financial assistance needs
- Determine overpayments and initiate actions to reduce cash assistance, recoup overpayments, or close cases
- Obtain collateral information and documentation as needed
- Prepare electronic and paper eligibility forms and submit for supervisory authorization
- Draft follow-up referrals to investigative divisions or Job Centers
- Complete daily activity reports annotating processed assignments
Requirements
- Must be permanent in the Eligibility Specialist civil service title
- Completion of 30 semester credits at an accredited college or university; OR
- High school diploma and one year of full-time experience in interviewing, bookkeeping, customer service, or social service navigation
- Satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements
