Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the automated phenotyping function, delivering robust analytical capabilities for whole plant, plant cell, and plant tissue culture.
- Develop and implement image and sensor-based phenotyping strategies and workflows.
- Recruit, lead, and mentor an interdisciplinary team spanning biology, engineering, data science, and automation.
- Develop and maintain pipelines for processing phenotyping data with emphasis on reproducibility and version control.
- Direct research activities by supervising projects and overseeing delegated group tasks.
- Manage research programs through stage-gated milestones and resource allocation (personnel, equipment, and budgets).
- Foster collaborations across EIT Oxford and the wider scientific and commercial ecosystem.
- Work with translational teams to identify and protect intellectual property for commercial opportunities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a leader of research groups within academia or industry.
- Recognized thought leader in the field of plant science or phenotyping.
- Demonstrated ability to manage scientific output for teams of PhDs and postdoctoral researchers.
- Experience delivering long-term strategic research programs.
- Experience managing large, interdisciplinary teams of researchers and scientists.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience developing partnerships with engineering and technical partners.
- Proficiency in project management, communication, and resource allocation.
- Ability to build strong internal and external professional relationships.
