About the role

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain Ebury’s global Sanctions and Export Controls framework, policies, and risk appetite statements.
  • Establish and govern comprehensive export control protocols for trade finance and cross-border payment operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of regional sanctions managers and advisory officers.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for executive leadership and the Board regarding sanctions and export control risks.
  • Manage relationships with key global regulators and competent authorities, including OFSI, OFAC, and EU authorities.
  • Serve as the ultimate escalation authority for complex, high-risk, or politically sensitive adjudication.
  • Partner with Financial Crime Tech and Product teams to optimize global screening platforms and logic.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of deep subject matter expertise in financial crime and sanctions leadership.
  • Master-level understanding of global sanctions regimes (OFAC, OFSI, EU, UN) and international export control frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing, scaling, and inspiring diverse, globally distributed teams.
  • Background in Fintech, FX, correspondent banking, or trade finance.
  • Exceptional ability to align regulatory requirements with fast-paced commercial objectives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior executives and board members.
