Groundwater Remediation Specialist

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Hanford cleanup and groundwater programs with a focus on remediation activities and regulatory compliance
• Assist in document review and technical analysis of groundwater and source area contamination regarding CERCLA, RCRA, and AEA processes
• Ensure project safety and regulatory documentation is accurate for submission to regulators or DOE offices
• Participate in groundwater program operations including pump and treatment facilities, in-situ barriers, and well maintenance
• Provide expert technical oversight and feedback to prevent programmatic failure
• Interface with diverse stakeholders including the EPA, State Regulators, and DOE contractors
• Support the development of plans to mitigate programmatic risks and improve activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 10+ years of relevant experience
• U.S. Citizenship is required
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government-issued clearance
• Knowledge of environmental contamination assessment and fate and transport of contaminants
• Expertise in RCRA and CERCLA state regulations
• Experience with design, installation, and operation of remedial systems for soil and groundwater
• Knowledge of in situ and ex situ soil remediation techniques
• Proficiency in MS Office tools including Word, Excel, and Access
• Experience with groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW and STOMP

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Hanford Site Groundwater treatment and well drilling operations
• Knowledge of the Hanford Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order
• Experience with DOE Order 413.3B regarding Program and Project Management
