Groundskeeper

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled duties to maintain and preserve the health and beauty of landscapes and hardscapes for UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services.
• Conduct routine care of cultivated and surfaced areas, including mowing, edging, fertilizing, aerating, renovating, and installing lawns.
• Identify and treat horticultural pests and diseases.
• Safely operate power-driven equipment such as mowers, edgers, trimmers, shears, generators, renovators, and aerifiers.
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team to complete assignments and maintain standard safe work practices.
• Complete accurate reports, forms, and work orders using written English.

Requirements

• Two years of experience in plant care and treatment, including the ability to identify pests and diseases.
• Two years of experience in plant care methods such as pruning shrubs, mowing/edging lawns, and cultivating plants.
• Broad knowledge of landscape plants and turf grass identification and care.
• Ability to operate power-driven landscape equipment and various hand tools.
• Valid California Driver's License (Class C) with a satisfactory driving record.
• Physical ability to stand, crawl, walk, stoop, and lift/lower objects up to 50 lbs (and up to 80 lbs with assistance).
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and fluctuating temperatures.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and special events as needed.
