Groundskeeper

Responsibilities

• Maintain College landscaping and grounds, including weeding flower beds, pruning trees, and raking leaves.
• Perform routine trash and garbage removal from campus waste receptacles and receiving areas.
• Operate various power and hand tools such as mowers, gas shears, blowers, and string trimmers.
• Conduct routine maintenance and upkeep on all ground equipment and tools.
• Assist with moving and event set-up as required.
• Monitor campus grounds for litter, debris, and potential safety hazards.
• Ensure campus streets and parking lots remain clean and free of debris.
• Work weekends and overtime as needed to meet seasonal demands and special event requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of six (6) months of related landscaping or grounds maintenance experience.
• Proficiency with, or willingness to learn, the operation of power and hand tools.
• Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, standing, stooping, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills to interact with the Spelman community.
