Groundskeeper Group I

Responsibilities

• Maintain the physical appearance of university grounds through mowing, trimming, edging, and sweeping lawns.
• Water fields and grounds as directed to ensure healthy vegetation.
• Perform tree and shrub maintenance, including planting, trimming, and fertilizing.
• Ensure proper care, maintenance, and minor repair of equipment, tools, and supplies.
• Collect trash and dispose of it in appropriate containers.
• Assist with the set-up and tear-down of outdoor stages, tarps, tables, and chairs.
• Identify and report maintenance or repair needs to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with special construction projects as required.

Requirements

• Knowledge of the maintenance and operation of grounds equipment.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet University fleet rules.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to push or pull up to 200 pounds.
• Ability to perform extensive physical activity in various outdoor weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Working knowledge of lawn maintenance and equipment repair.
• Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
