Grounds Worker I

Responsibilities

• Perform routine landscape maintenance including watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, edging, and fertilizing lawns
• Rake leaves and clear debris from walkways, fields, courts, and parking lots
• Operate light grounds equipment such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers, lawn edgers, and snow blowers
• Service outdoor trash and recycling containers across campus
• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles, tools, and equipment, reporting the need for major repairs
• Assist with snow removal and inclement weather preparedness tasks
• Help move furniture between buildings and campuses as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• One year of commercial landscaping experience or a willingness to be trained
• Valid driver’s license in good standing
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform labor-intensive tasks
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
• Ability to work irregular hours for snow removal or campus emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance management software
