Grounds Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform interior and exterior groundskeeping tasks, including transplanting plants, pruning, and propagation
• Apply required amounts of fertilizer, water, pesticides, and herbicides
• Select, layout, and care for plants for interior planters
• Plant exterior plants, trees, hedges, and shrubs
• Instruct and oversee the work of 3-5 workers
• Operate various equipment including trucks, riding mowers, tractors, spraying equipment, snow plows, and salters
• Perform seasonal maintenance such as removing snow and ice and applying salt
• Dig holes, rake dirt, grass, and leaves, and maintain cleanliness of lawns and shrubs
• Load and unload materials and equipment on trucks

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Ornamental Horticulture, Greenhouse Management, or Floriculture
• 2 to 3 years of practical experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Pesticide Applicators License (Category 3A)
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in extreme weather conditions
