Grounds Maintenance B

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance tasks including digging, raking, mowing, trimming, edging, watering, and weeding.
• Use hand tools (rakes, shovels, pruning shears) and power tools (hedge trimmers, blowers, string trimmers, lawn mowers) to maintain sports fields and college grounds.
• Operate heavy equipment such as skip loaders, forklifts, gang mowers, and lawn sweepers.
• Execute landscaping duties including moving sod, soil, and mulch, planting flowers, hedges, and trees, and performing tree pruning.
• Maintain campus cleanliness by collecting litter, changing trash bags, and power-washing surfaces.
• Track labor, materials, and supplies used and report them accurately to the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
• Ability to read, write, and understand directions in English.
• Proficiency in Google or Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of plant materials suitable for drought-tolerant environments.
• One year of experience with specific landscape knowledge regarding plant pruning, fertilizing, and mulching.
