Ground Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design fluid systems including cryogenics, hydraulics, fuels, high pressure gases, and HVAC
• Perform 2D and 3D modeling using NX CAD software
• Conduct system sizing and analysis via hand calculations and numerical methods
• Generate and maintain P&IDs and connection diagrams
• Manage component selection and Bill of Materials (BOMs)
• Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams
• Support certification of launch pad fluid systems and maintenance program development

Requirements

• ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Level II: 2+ years of experience in aerospace or industrial design, testing, or operations
• Senior I: 5+ years of experience and ability to mentor entry-level engineers
• Proficiency in CAD software (NX, Solidworks)
• Strong knowledge of fluid systems, sizing calculations, and P&IDs

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Experience with piping systems or launch pad/engine test stand systems
• Experience with rocket or payload conditioning systems
• Experience with Oxygen equipment
• Proficiency with Nodal Analysis Tools (GFSSP, AFT) or pipe stress software (Ceasar II)
• Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, NFPA, or NASA ground system standards
