About the role
Responsibilities
- Design launch pad and test site fixed assets including test stands, launch mounts, and gantries
- Design launch vehicle support equipment such as transportation fixtures and lifting apparatuses
- Design large mechanisms including umbilicals, hold downs, and strongbacks
- Perform 2D and 3D modeling using NX CAD software
- Conduct system sizing and analysis via hand calculations and numerical methods
- Produce risk assessments, system hazard analyses, and FMEAs
- Manage component selection and maintenance of BOMs
- Support pad technicians during installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting
- Develop and execute test plans to validate launch pad systems
Requirements
- ABET accredited Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong engineering fundamentals for design calculations
- Proficiency in CAD software for 2D and 3D modeling
- Ability to read, understand, and produce fabrication drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in aerospace, oil and gas, or mining industries
- Proficiency with NX and Teamcenter
- Experience with analysis tools such as RISA, ANSYS, GFSSP, or AFT
- Prior experience in the design of structures or mechanisms
