Ground Station Systems Software Engineer

Lynk is the inventor of satellite direct to device or D2D technology, and has the world’s only commercial license from the FCC to operate a commercial D2D system. Lynk’s technology enables mobile network operators' subscribers to send and receive text messages to and from space via standard unmodified, mobile devices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software systems used to monitor, control, configure, and support Lynk ground station infrastructure.
• Develop software interfaces between ground station equipment, network services, and Mission Operations Software.
• Support the deployment and integration of new and upgraded ground stations.
• Build and maintain tools for collection, processing, analysis, and visualization of satellite and ground system telemetry.
• Implement DevOps practices for software development, testing, deployment, and configuration management.
• Automate ground station software deployment, monitoring, and recovery processes.
• Improve reliability through observability, alerting, logging, and metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
• Experience developing, deploying, or supporting software systems in operational infrastructure environments
• Strong working knowledge of Linux environments
• Experience developing software tools or services, preferably in Rust or Python
• Experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, VPNs, firewalls, DNS)
• Experience with DevOps practices (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, configuration management)
• Ability to troubleshoot systems spanning software, networks, and hardware interfaces
• Must meet ITAR requirements (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with satellite ground systems, RF equipment, or mission operations software
• Experience developing monitoring and control systems for remote infrastructure
• Experience with telemetry collection and time-series data systems
• Experience with AWS or hybrid cloud/on-prem infrastructure
• Experience with observability tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry
• Experience in a startup or fast-moving technical environment
