Grinder

Responsibilities

• Execute the grinding process for rubber rolls according to Standard Operating Procedures and job instructions.
• Interpret production schedules, blueprints, job router cards, and non-conformance reports.
• Prepare rolls for installation by trimming rubber and cleaning steel surfaces using hand or mechanical equipment.
• Set up grinding equipment, including installing grinding wheels, attachments, live-centers, and chucks.
• Align rollers to meet dimensional requirements, including adjustments for taper, TIR, and surface finish.
• Utilize precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and profilometers.
• Perform quality inspections on finished products to ensure all specifications are met.
• Complete necessary documentation, including inspection reports and operator sign-offs.
• Safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment to move rolls.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical documents.
• Proficiency in basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and exert physical force as required.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) for documentation and communication.
• Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
• Strong reasoning abilities and commitment to safe operating procedures.
