Grids of the Future Director

Responsibilities

• Translate global grid modernization priorities into an India-specific portfolio strategy
• Build and manage a pipeline of projects with DISCOMs, state/central agencies, and private sector actors
• Lead utility engagement for grid digitalization, BESS, and renewable energy integration
• Oversee end-to-end project delivery, including partner selection, implementation, and monitoring
• Manage the grant lifecycle, including budgeting, compliance, and milestone tracking
• Lead work on grid digitalization, including GIS mapping, smart meter data, and AI-enabled analytics
• Author technical knowledge products such as policy briefs and case studies

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Renewable Energy, Energy Economics, Engineering, Public Policy, or related field
• 15+ years of experience in India’s energy or power sector
• Deep understanding of DISCOM reform, grid modernization, and RE procurement frameworks
• Experience with BESS techno-commercial evaluation and tariff design
• Familiarity with technologies like ADMS, DERMS, GIS, and digital twins
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-partner programs and grants
• Exceptional written and verbal communication in English and Hindi
• Established network with MoP, state agencies, DISCOMs, and MDBs

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience working within a utility, DISCOM, IPP, or energy regulator
• Knowledge of blended or catalytic finance structures
• Familiarity with open access and corporate PPAs in India
• Experience in fast-paced, entrepreneurial organizations
