Grid Manager (Battery Storage)

Responsibilities

• Support the end-to-end grid connection process for the UK Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) portfolio
• Manage grid connection applications, offers, and technical studies
• Ensure compliance with G99 and Grid Code requirements
• Interface with DNOs, Transmission Owners, NGESO, and Ofgem
• Review connection offers, reinforcement schemes, and curtailment studies
• Coordinate electrical system design and grid integration with construction teams
• Manage power system data, modeling, and external consultants
• Monitor regulatory developments like Grid Connection Reform and REMA
• Support offshore wind due diligence and JV partner grid processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field
• 5 to 7 years of experience in power generation, distribution, or transmission
• Proven experience in Grid Connection and Compliance for renewable energy assets
• Deep understanding of the UK Grid market and DNO connections
• Expertise in power system analysis tools (RMS and EMT)
• Knowledge of Load Flow, short circuit, harmonic, and flicker studies
• Familiarity with BESS OEMs and BOP contractors
• Strong project management and negotiation skills
