About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate accounting functions for grants post-award, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on transactions to ensure compliance with internal controls and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Provide support to faculty and staff regarding grant management, University Business Policies, and contract terms.
  • Prepare fund balance reconciliations, federal cash drawdown reports, and federal quarterly reports.
  • Conduct weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial general ledger reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Prepare invoice billing associated with grants and manage deposits for grant funds received.
  • Support external auditors during year-end and Uniform Guidance audits.
  • Assist in implementing new functionality in Banner Finance and other departmental systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting (Two years of full-time experience in a similar position may be considered equivalent to one year of coursework).
  • One year of accounting work experience or experience in a related field.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience working with accounting software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education or a non-profit organization.
  • Proficiency with Banner Finance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft memos and reports.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
