About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage post-award administration for departmental grants and contracts, including account reconciliation and financial data accuracy.
  • Monitor financial activity on grant, contract, and cost share accounts to ensure compliance with sponsor and university regulations.
  • Conduct long-range financial planning and provide forecasting support to faculty.
  • Oversee all aspects of departmental travel administration, including coordinating arrangements and reimbursements.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor staff, including a full-time Grant/Travel Coordinator.
  • Serve as a departmental liaison with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and other university administrative units.
  • Advise faculty on allowable costs, budgetary elements, and sponsor guidelines.
  • Conduct annual audits of travel processes to improve efficiency and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3 years of related professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of post-award grant administration and sponsored research regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, including reconciliation, forecasting, and auditing.
  • Proven supervisory and training experience.
  • Proficiency with financial/accounting systems, spreadsheets, and travel management platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience in higher education, research administration, or sponsored programs.
  • Extensive experience with university financial systems and travel software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
