Grants Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee the core financial and accounting aspects of the private grants and government funding lifecycle
• Maintain an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls
• Identify opportunities for process simplification and automation
• Help re-engineer and develop a best-in-practice grants accounting process
• Manage the upfront financial budget development process
• Ensure appropriate tagging and optimal utilization of all grant funding
• Prepare regular financial reports on funds tagged and utilization
• Assess the adequacy of revenue recognition and interpret complex US GAAP accounting topics like ASC 606
• Serve as the financial Subject Matter Expert for government grants regarding budgetary oversight
• Work closely with year-end auditors on financial statement reviews

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in accounting or finance
• At least 3 years of experience specifically in grants and government funding
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
• Strong financial acumen and understanding of non-profit accounting nuances
• Proven ability to drive financial process improvements and transformation
• Excellent communication skills for delivering messages to all levels including the CFO

• Experience working with charter schools
