About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation and project management of individual and multi-investigator grant proposals
  • Manage the scientific writing process, including establishing timelines, deliverables, and team coordination
  • Provide editorial support, draft preparation, and revision for grants, manuscripts, and research progress reports
  • Identify new funding opportunities and provide advice on grantsmanship
  • Coordinate with Sponsored Research staff to ensure accurate and timely application submissions
  • Assist in the design and planning of functional genomics and genetic perturbation experiments
  • Support data analysis and figure preparation for high-throughput sequencing, microscopy, and other genomic data

Requirements

  • PhD in genetics, genomics, cancer biology, neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of research experience, including direct experience in grant writing
  • Exceptional written communication skills for preparing competitive scientific applications and publications
  • Applied statistics background to perform power calculations and develop quantitative metrics
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage complex, multi-investigator processes
  • Ability to grasp complicated technical subjects and synthesize diverse lines of evidence

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NIH grant processes and applications
  • Experience handling scientific writing for institutional-level grant applications
  • Familiarity with standard grant development concepts and procedures in a research environment
