Grant Accounting Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage the Grant Accounting team, setting clear priorities and performance standards
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Act as the primary point of accountability for Grant Accounting, ensuring adherence to policies and controls
• Drive continuous improvement across processes, systems, and team capabilities
• Ensure compliance with expense and grantor requirements and manage internal and external grant audits
• Provide day-to-day leadership and coaching while remaining hands-on during peak periods or complex cases

Requirements

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or Swiss Brevet Federal in Accounting
• 7+ years of experience in financial project/grant accounting or Big Four external audit
• Strong technical knowledge of Swiss VAT and cost accounting principles
• Proven experience leading teams and managing stakeholders across different seniority levels
• Strong ERP and systems experience with a focus on process optimization
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); French language skills are an advantage
