Responsibilities

  • Lead three discussion sections of approximately 25 students each for WGS 220
  • Grade student assignments according to lead faculty instructions
  • Attend all scheduled lectures and instructional team meetings
  • Hold weekly office hours to support student learning
  • Develop independent lesson plans for discussion sections as needed
  • Meet regularly with the lead instructor and maintain prompt email communication

Requirements

  • Enrolled in good standing as a graduate student at the University of Michigan
  • Available to attend all lectures and teach scheduled in-person section times
  • Demonstrated English language proficiency (may require ELI evaluation/GSI-OET)
  • Minimum credit hour registration requirements as per university policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior teaching experience or pedagogical training
  • Demonstrated interest in Women's and Gender Studies or health-related topics
  • Knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system
  • Experience using Canvas for course management
  • Previous experience as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI)
  • LSA graduate student status
