About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead three discussion sections of approximately 25 students each for WGS 220
- Grade student assignments according to lead faculty instructions
- Attend all scheduled lectures and instructional team meetings
- Hold weekly office hours to support student learning
- Develop independent lesson plans for discussion sections as needed
- Meet regularly with the lead instructor and maintain prompt email communication
Requirements
- Enrolled in good standing as a graduate student at the University of Michigan
- Available to attend all lectures and teach scheduled in-person section times
- Demonstrated English language proficiency (may require ELI evaluation/GSI-OET)
- Minimum credit hour registration requirements as per university policy
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior teaching experience or pedagogical training
- Demonstrated interest in Women's and Gender Studies or health-related topics
- Knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system
- Experience using Canvas for course management
- Previous experience as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI)
- LSA graduate student status
