About the role
Responsibilities
- Participate in a 6-month internship program featuring classroom learning and precepted bedside clinical experience
- Provide high-quality care for patients in a 10-bed adult intensive care unit specializing in cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery
- Collaborate with the Advanced Practice Team, participate in patient/family conferences, and join patient care rounds
- Assist in research studies and quality assurance activities within the CVICU
- Transition to a permanent Registered Nurse role with a two-year commitment following the internship
Requirements
- Graduate Nurse or newly licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
- No prior experience practicing as a Registered Nurse
- Successful completion of the NCLEX within 45 days of the start date
- Ability to start the internship in August 2026
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy patients/objects for long periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech in a CVICU
- Student Nurse clinical experience in a CVICU
- ACLS certification
