About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide front-line assistance to current and prospective graduate students regarding program policies, admissions, and complex issues.
- Coordinate all aspects of graduate program admissions, including transcript evaluation, computing averages, and processing offers via online systems.
- Manage award administration, including the distribution of application materials and ensuring students receive scholarships.
- Coordinate MA and PhD thesis defenses and Comprehensive Exam preparations, including facility scheduling.
- Oversee student appointments, including onboarding, mandatory training compliance, and processing via WorkDay.
- Perform departmental administrative tasks such as acting as a timekeeper, reconciling credit card purchases, and managing office supplies.
- Maintain departmental records, email lists, and telephone directories in accordance with university retention schedules.
Requirements
- High School graduation.
- Two-year post-secondary diploma.
- 3 years of related administrative or student support experience.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to interpret and apply complex legislation, policies, and technical information.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for composing professional correspondence and reports.
- Proven ability to resolve client complaints and contentious issues with tact, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Experience working effectively with minimal supervision in a diverse environment.
