GPU Datapath Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Work with mathematically focused engineers to design optimal arithmetic hardware components
• Contribute to the development of the XE series of GPUs and other cutting-edge products
• Extract and crystallize requirements for arithmetic hardware blocks from engineers across the company
• Design and evaluate various hardware architectures for implementing math-intensive blocks
• Research new techniques for implementing a wide range of mathematical operations in silicon
• Produce patentable work within a research and invention-focused environment
• Plan and schedule individual work while educating colleagues on datapath designs

Requirements

• Programming experience in SystemVerilog, VHDL, C++, Python, Tcl, or shell
• Ability to communicate complex technical information concisely and unambiguously
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to think both abstractly and concretely
• Tenacity and a collaborative approach to achieving goals

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of CPU, DSP, or FPU architectures and debugging/testing strategies
• Hands-on experience with ASIC, FPGA, or physical design tools (P&R)
• Knowledge of floating point arithmetic and its implementation
• Experience with scientific computing, numerical libraries, or optimizing arithmetic hardware
• Experience in GPU/CPU design and methodologies such as UVM
• Experience with computer-assisted proof or automated theorem provers
