Responsibilities

• Build relationships with government stakeholders to ensure state agencies understand Middesk's value and legality
• Act as the internal expert for engaging with state Departments of Labor and Revenue to resolve time-sensitive issues
• Monitor state and federal policy changes that could affect the business
• Design and develop scalable strategies, playbooks, and frameworks for government relations
• Collaborate with Product Partnerships to improve data acquisition and prioritize state relationships
• Identify opportunities for Middesk to connect directly to government systems
• Maintain a network of lobbyists and government consultants
• Inform Sales on relevant policy and regulatory developments

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in government relations, public policy, or public affairs
• Meaningful experience at the state or local level
• Proven track record of executing public policy campaigns
• Established network of lobbyists, agency consultants, and state-level government contacts
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in startups or fast-moving environments
• Ability to translate government relations issues into product or sales opportunities
