Government Documents-Reference Librarian

Responsibilities

• Manage and provide access to government documents in compliance with Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) regulations.
• Process federal documents through binding, stamping, and labeling, and maintain accurate online catalog records.
• Deliver high-quality reference services, library instruction, and faculty liaison support.
• Organize and shelve materials using the SuDoc Classification System and conduct regular shelf-reading.
• Supervise work-study students, including scheduling, assigning duties, and managing timesheets.
• Monitor FDLP communications and stay current with professional developments in library science.
• Participate in collection development, shared decision-making, and university committees.
• Maintain the orderly appearance and accessibility of the Government Documents area.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from an accredited institution.
• Proven experience in providing reference services and library instruction.
• Demonstrated supervisory ability.
• Experience working with both print and electronic resources.
• Ability to work one evening per week and weekends on a rotating basis.
