About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of regional government relations strategies in the Northeast US (Boston, Hartford, New York Metro, Philadelphia).
- Build and maintain deep relationships with state and local elected officials, policymakers, trade associations, and think tanks.
- Represent company interests and manage outside consultants' advocacy efforts before state legislatures and local governments.
- Develop and execute a Northeast region political engagement strategy, including community engagement and corporate citizenship initiatives.
- Collaborate with Legal, Marketing, and Communications teams to monitor, analyze, and report on legislative measures and regulatory policies.
- Track and analyze impactful state and local legislative measures, political campaigns, and ballot initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in corporate, trade association, or multi-client government relations consulting, or relevant state/local government service.
- Ability to travel within the Northeast region and occasional national travel for conferences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of state and local legislative processes and regional policymakers.
- Advanced degree.
- Proven ability to translate business goals into effective advocacy strategies and political relationship programs.
- Strong public speaking, presentation, and legislative/policy analysis skills.
- Experience managing complex projects, budgets, and external consultants.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to work with senior executives and government officials.
