Government Affairs Lead

Responsibilities

• Help set Base’s government affairs strategy at the state and local level to drive outcomes that expand operational capacity
• Monitor legislative efforts across the country and assess business-model impact
• Track legislation nationally with deep involvement in target markets, assisted by contract lobbyists
• Draft legislation, testimony, comment letters, and position papers
• Manage external lobbyists and advocacy partners to advance state-level priorities
• Build coalitions with industry groups, consumer advocates, and other stakeholders
• Represent Base at conferences, legislative hearings, and industry forums

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or lobbying
• Deep knowledge of state legislative processes
• Existing relationships with legislators or relevant stakeholders
• Familiarity with organizations where state legislators develop model policies
• Excellent presentation, written, and oral communication skills
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple state workstreams
