Governance Professional

Responsibilities

• Provide independent, authoritative advice to the Chair, Corporation, and Committees
• Lead and continuously improve governance frameworks, policies, and practices
• Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements
• Act as Clerk to the Corporation, managing governance cycles, meetings, and documentation
• Oversee governance risk, assurance, and accountability frameworks
• Lead governor recruitment, induction, training, and development
• Produce high-quality minutes, reports, and briefing papers to enable informed decision-making
• Act as Whistleblowing Officer and custodian of the Common Seal

Requirements

• Significant experience in governance, compliance, or board-level advisory roles
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (ideally within FE, education, or the public sector)
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
• High levels of professional judgement, discretion, and independence
• Level 2 English and Maths

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification
• Governance professional qualification (e.g., CGI) or willingness to attain such qualifications
