About the role
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical expert for Product Control, providing oversight of P&L captures, market risk exposures, and portfolio performance.
- Deliver high-quality analytics and reporting, including margin attribution, valuation drivers, and daily market risk exposures.
- Independently assess risk profiles using commodity supply/demand fundamentals and regional market drivers.
- Utilize quantitative methods such as Monte Carlo simulation, parametric VaR, and options valuation (vanilla and exotic) to support decision-making.
- Oversee and validate physical and financial forward curves to ensure consistent methodology and robust process controls.
- Monitor trading activity to ensure strict alignment with Market Risk policies, operating standards, and financial controls.
- Collaborate with Finance teams to support month-end close, P&L validation, and reconciliation to earnings.
- Lead strategic projects to improve risk measurement, valuation governance, and digital automation within ETRM platforms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Quantitative Finance, Business Economics, Computer Science, Finance, or Management.
- 10+ years of experience in petrochemical trading, financial trading, or energy risk management.
- Deep knowledge of financial derivatives, risk evaluation, and complex valuation methodologies.
- Strong analytical and statistical modelling skills, including experience with decision analysis techniques.
- Proficiency with ETRM/ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Endur, Allegro) and market data tools like Bloomberg.
- Ability to work late hours (early afternoon to approximately 10pm) to support London trading hours.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to constructively challenge senior management.
