Global Research Economist

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of impact evaluations for innovative programs aimed at improving land use productivity and public support effectiveness.
• Generate and analyze global spatial and institutional data to inform policy reforms and measure institutional effectiveness.
• Facilitate learning across different regions and countries to draw out implications for operational approaches.
• Contribute to analytical products that inform Bank lending and support the design of interventions related to land rights and markets.
• Support the unit's research program by linking data analysis to monitoring and evaluating impacts.

Requirements

• PhD in economics or a related discipline.
• Proven track record of economic research and a pipeline of journal publications or publishable work in progress.
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with impact evaluation literature.
• Demonstrated ability to work with survey, administrative, and geospatial data.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with policymakers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with economic research in Ethiopia related to land markets or access to finance.
• Familiarity with the literature on land tenure, institutions, and markets.
