GIS & Permit Data Analyst Intern

Responsibilities

• Research, evaluate, and integrate publicly available geospatial datasets into Blumen’s data ontology
• Perform QA/QC on spatial data layers, including reviewing attributes, projections, and accuracy
• Standardize dataset descriptions, metadata, and schema to ensure consistency across data sources
• Analyze dataset attributes to determine customer relevance
• Support rapid data onboarding for new datasets, regulatory documents, or maps
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to improve geospatial data workflows

Requirements

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in GIS, environmental science, geography, land-use planning, or a related field
• Working understanding of GIS concepts, including attribute tables and data dictionaries
• Proficiency in GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS
• Strong data wrangling skills, including cleaning CSVs and cross-referencing sources
• Self-directed, organized, and detail-oriented approach to data management

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python for data processing
• Familiarity with PostGIS or spatial SQL
• Background in environmental permitting or regulatory research
