GIS Commissioning Engineer

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute commissioning activities for high-voltage GIS & AIS equipment, including pre-commissioning checks and functional testing
• Lead the safe energisation of systems and perform final validation to ensure performance aligns with design specifications
• Review and interpret technical documentation such as single-line diagrams, schematics, and interlocking logic
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive commissioning records, test results, and site documentation for project handover
• Implement and adhere to risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work controls for all site activities
• Perform advanced fault-finding and root cause analysis on complex electrical systems during the commissioning phase

Requirements

• Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Proven experience in the commissioning, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage power transmission and distribution systems (specifically GIS/AIS)
• Strong technical expertise in high voltage electrical equipment and control systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting
• Full UK Driving License
