GIS Analyst

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update GIS datasets, maps, and geospatial records
• Produce maps, exhibits, and cartographic products for city departments and public use
• Perform routine spatial analysis and data queries to support planning and infrastructure
• Assist with collection, verification, and processing of GIS and GPS field data
• Support the maintenance and organization of geodatabases and related GIS data systems
• Provide technical assistance and user support for GIS applications and mapping services
• Review GIS data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
• Coordinate with internal departments to fulfill routine GIS requests

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field
• Working knowledge of ESRI software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
• Knowledge of automated mapping principles and cartographic procedures
• Basic knowledge of GIS data management and geodatabases
• Knowledge of GPS data collection methods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid Mississippi Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

• GIS Professional (GISP) certification
• Knowledge of scripting or web technologies such as Python, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
• Practical GIS experience through internships or academic projects
