Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Undertake daily inspections of the underground environment, including active headings, stopes, and blast performance
• Maintain records of stope brows and other geotechnically relevant items through photography and documentation
• Review geological mapping and operational ground condition records to identify and communicate hazardous conditions
• Perform routine geotechnical monitoring using a TARP and risk-based priority system
• Interpret and analyse monitoring data to identify trends and predict upcoming geotechnical issues
• Delineate and secure hazard areas with appropriate signage and restrictions
• Conduct QAQC on ground support as outlined in the Ground Control Management Plan
• Review operational plans and Mining Instructions to ensure suitable mining methods and ground support are specified
• Install, maintain, and calibrate underground monitoring equipment such as convergence points, Cyclops, MPBX, and LiDAR scanners
• Perform geotechnical data collection, including in-fill structural mapping and diamond drill core logging

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or an equivalent tertiary qualification
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in underground mining
• Full and current Driver Licence with the ability to drive manual vehicles
