Responsibilities

  • Own the geotechnical workstream across a multi-site, multi-state development portfolio from early site screening through foundation design and construction support
  • Scope and direct subsurface investigation programs, including writing RFPs and managing boring and CPT campaigns
  • Interpret subsurface data into design parameters and assign foundation systems in collaboration with Structural engineers
  • Set site earthwork and grading strategy in coordination with Civil engineers regarding cut and fill balance and settlement risk
  • Run geotechnical fatal-flaw screening during site selection to identify karst, mine subsidence, or high groundwater
  • Coordinate with Environmental teams on groundwater and contamination findings that impact foundation decisions

Requirements

  • Experience owning geotechnical engineering on large-scale site development
  • Proven ability to turn subsurface data into foundation design parameters
  • Experience making foundation and ground-improvement decisions on difficult sites (expansive clay, liquefaction, etc.)
  • Experience directing external geotechnical consultants and labs
  • Ability to perform geotechnical fatal-flaw screening during due diligence
  • Strong collaborative skills working with structural, civil, and environmental engineers

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE or GE license (or active pursuit)
  • Experience in data center, industrial, or heavy-civil site development
  • Expertise in deep foundation and ground-improvement design
  • Knowledge of seismic site response
  • Multi-state experience
