Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Oversee, manage, and direct geotechnical engineering evaluations for projects with varying complexity
• Provide review and oversight of geotechnical engineering practices
• Prepare subsurface investigation proposals and assist in marketing and acquiring subsurface investigations
• Assist in the technical development of engineering staff
• Support business development efforts, including attending short-list interviews and reviewing RFPs/RFQs
• Collaborate with the marketing group to acquire geotechnical investigation projects
• Maintain company-established chargeability goals

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or geotechnical engineering
• Minimum of 6 years of civil/geotechnical engineering experience
• Proficiency in design and construction-related aspects of geotechnical engineering
• Experience in shallow and deep foundation design (Caltrans bridge foundations, retaining walls, MSE walls, and pavements)
• Familiarity with mat-type foundation design
• Proficiency in Settle3D, Slide, AllPile, L-Pile, Shaft, CLiq, and LiquefyPro
• Experience with field infiltration testing and design infiltration rates
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• California GE registration (Desired)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in site-specific ground motion studies and time-history analyses
• Experience with cement- and lime-treated mix design per Greenbook
• Experience interacting with CGS/DSA/OSHPD/GMED reviewers
• Experience in sales and marketing to government agencies
• Demonstrated leadership of engineers and soil technicians
