Geotechnical Engineer

Responsibilities

• Maintain geotechnical oversight of underground operations and audit compliance with corporate standards
• Design ground support and monitoring systems for safe and productive mine operations
• Conduct regular underground inspections to audit installed strata support and conditions
• Provide strategic advice to Technical Services and Mining Operations departments
• Manage the Strata Defect System and ensure compliance with Geotechnical Operational Management Systems
• Advise engineers on geotechnical and hydro-geological issues regarding mine design and planning
• Provide mentoring and training to personnel regarding strata support systems

Requirements

• Tertiary degree in Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline
• Proven underground coal experience in a Geotechnical Engineering role
• Experience with computer aided mine design programs and geotechnical software
• Ability to understand business systems and provide relevant data

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) status
