Geospatial Data Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable geospatial data processing pipelines and software components
• Develop GIS analysis tools and algorithms for UAV route optimization
• Integrate and process multi-source geospatial datasets including elevation, obstacles, airspace, and weather
• Build automated workflows for continuous data ingestion and processing
• Create APIs and services for real-time geospatial analysis

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building GIS software components and data processing systems
• Proficiency with core GIS tools and libraries such as QGIS and GDAL/OGR
• Strong understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and spatial data structures
• Experience with geospatial algorithms like visibility and spatial analysis
• Strong Python development skills with NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy
• Experience with the geospatial Python ecosystem including GeoPandas, Rasterio, and Xarray
• Familiarity with SQL and geospatial databases like PostgreSQL/PostGIS
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud preferred), Docker, and Git

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Knowledge of C/C++ for performance-critical geospatial processing
• Experience with meteorological data formats such as NetCDF and GRIB
• Background in meteorology, atmospheric science, or aviation
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts applied to geospatial data
