Geomechanics Specialist

Responsibilities

• Utilize numerical modeling tools and software to solve subsurface problems involving stresses, pore pressure, and deformations
• Develop and implement innovative workflows, tools, and modeling approaches with minimal supervision
• Integrate numerical results with experimental geomechanics or field observations to improve prediction and decision-making
• Collaborate across technical disciplines and global teams to deploy solutions into operational workflows
• Deliver high-quality technical reports and presentations to internal and external audiences

Requirements

• Ph.D. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Geophysics, Geology or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in numerical methods for solid-mechanics applications, including finite-element modeling
• Expertise in computational modeling of deformation, stresses, and coupled systems (solid-thermal or poro-mechanics)
• Experience in developing or applying mathematical/numerical models to solid and multi-physics problems
• Strong foundation in solid mechanics, finite-element modeling, and constitutive behavior

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modeling tools such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, Reveal, VISAGE, or Elfen
• Ability to develop or modify code in MATLAB, Python, or other programming languages
• Industry experience in Abaqus-based geomechanical modeling
• Experience with subsurface geomechanics applications like reservoir compaction, fault reactivation, or hydraulic fracturing
