Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate new and current breeding schemes through simulation and pilot testing
• Develop strategies to optimize the use of new breeding tools and methodologies
• Support breeding teams to ensure target product profiles drive breeding activities
• Coordinate molecular breeding work using genetics, genomics, and molecular biology approaches
• Contribute to generating data on de novo genome assemblies, transcriptomes, and annotations
• Perform genetic mapping of traits associated with photoperiod sensitivity and stress resistance
• Lead and contribute to virtual and hands-on training and mentorship activities
• Contribute to joint research proposals and manuscript writing for high-impact journals

Requirements

• PhD in plant breeding, quantitative genetics, biometrics, molecular genetics, or plant biotechnology
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in statistical analysis software such as R or Python
• Strong understanding of quantitative genetics and mathematical theory
• Experience in plant gene discovery, cloning, and functional analysis
• Track record of high-quality publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Proficiency in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in private industry or advanced modern breeding programs
• In-depth understanding of breeding applications in the developing world
