About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-testing genetic counseling for decedents’ families
  • Review genetic test results and explain implications for surviving relatives
  • Obtain informed consent for OCME testing
  • Provide post-testing counseling and referral to clinical programs
  • Write genetic counseling reports and targeted variant testing reports
  • Support medical examiners with interpretation of genetic testing results
  • Maintain communication with clinical partner programs
  • Contribute to education, lectures, grand rounds, mentoring, and publications

Requirements

  • Degree in genetics, molecular genetics, or related field
  • Experience in genetic counseling or related clinical genetics work
  • Knowledge of genetic testing and variant interpretation
  • Strong written communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to collaborate with clinical and forensic partners
