About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide pre-testing genetic counseling for decedents’ families
- Review genetic test results and explain implications for surviving relatives
- Obtain informed consent for OCME testing
- Provide post-testing counseling and referral to clinical programs
- Write genetic counseling reports and targeted variant testing reports
- Support medical examiners with interpretation of genetic testing results
- Maintain communication with clinical partner programs
- Contribute to education, lectures, grand rounds, mentoring, and publications
Requirements
- Degree in genetics, molecular genetics, or related field
- Experience in genetic counseling or related clinical genetics work
- Knowledge of genetic testing and variant interpretation
- Strong written communication and report writing skills
- Ability to collaborate with clinical and forensic partners
