General Technician Below Ground

Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of the gas distribution system
• Operate basic equipment, hand tools, and heavy machinery
• Perform field tasks including digging, shoring, repairing leaks, and testing pipes
• Conduct basic leak investigations and simple sniff tests to detect gas leaks
• Manage traffic control and perform landscaping or general site maintenance
• Assist in connecting and disconnecting gas services and manual meter operations
• Complete documentation using Mobile Data Terminals and follow all safety protocols
• Maintain service vehicles by ensuring they are properly stocked with tools and supplies

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of hand tools and equipment
• Valid Driver’s License
• Basic proficiency with MS Office and computer skills
• Ability to pass basic skills and knowledge assessments
• Ability to work in outdoor elements and perform heavy lifting, bending, and stooping

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous field operations experience, specifically with distribution crews
• Experience operating heavy equipment
• Technical school training or relevant certifications
• Welding experience or certification
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or permit
