General Research Assistant

It works to improve the quantity, quality, and reliability of basic cereal production systems like maize, wheat, sorghum, and millet through applied agricultural science, especially in the Global South.

Responsibilities

• Support seed cleaning and preparation of materials for sowing
• Prepare soil in fields or greenhouses
• Assist in sowing seeds manually or with machinery
• Protect crops from birds and rodents
• Support irrigation equipment installation
• Assist in crosses (emasculations and/or pollinations) and pollination tasks
• Support harvesting, threshing, and cleaning of harvested materials
• Assist in grinding materials and preparing seed identification materials (envelopes, bags, labels)
• Update seed inventories and assist in material identification and classification
• Maintain cleanliness of green zones and common areas at the station

Requirements

• Minimum primary school education
• No experience required (experience is a plus)
• Strong manual dexterity and initiative
• Competencies in critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and customer orientation
